Asia-Pacific Regional Conference in Perth, Australia
Over 1,000 leading representatives from government and business attended the first Asia-Pacific Regional Conference (APRC) in Perth, Australia, from November 3 to 5, 2017.
The purpose of the three-day conference was to strengthen collaboration between Germany and Australia and to share ideas about current economic and policy issues. German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier opened the conference.
In addition to current issues in economic policy, the varied agenda focused on opportunities for cooperating on trade and investment and on knowledge sharing. Also on the agenda were collaboration and future viability in areas relevant to business, such as infrastructure and energy, as well as the latest developments in Industry 4.0 and education.
DB Engineering & Consulting also attended the conference. Dieter Michell-Auli, Chief Sales Officer DB Engineering & Consulting, participated in a panel discussion on the future of cities and mobility. Other participants in the discussion included Rita Saffioti, Minister for Transport of Western Australia; Angus Taylor, Australia's Assistant Minister for Cities and Digital Transformation; and Larry McGrath, Executive General Manager at John Holland. The panel discussed topics including mobility as a service (MaaS), changing customer behavior in urban areas, and the role of digital and connected technologies.
DB Engineering & Consulting has been active in Australia since 2014. Some of its largest infrastructure projects have included the Sydney Metro Northwest and Canberra Metro. The company's commitment to the Australian market is growing, which is why the affiliate of Deutsche Bahn already has employees on the ground in Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne and Brisbane.
