Developing the next generation of Emirati railway professionals
On January 23rd a senior delegation from Abu Dhabi Vocational Education & Training Institute (ADVETI) led by the Institute’s Managing Director, H.E. Dr. Abdulrahman Jassim Alamran Al Hammadi, visited DB’s Vocational Educational Workshop & DB Training Academy.
The visit aimed at enhancing academic development, knowledge transfer and professional training for Emiratis. As part of the tour, delegates were hosted by Mr. Niko Warbanoff, CEO of DB Engineering & Consulting and Deputy Chairman of Etihad Rail DB.
In 2016, Etihad Rail, the developer and operator of the UAE’s national rail network has co-signed with Etihad Rail DB, the operations and maintenance joint-venture for stage one of the UAE’s national railway network, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Abu Dhabi Vocational Education & Training Institute (ADVETI). The MoU creates opportunities for occupational training and shared learning for students seeking qualifications in the UAE’s rail industry. After obtaining the rail diploma the graduates can specialize in one of four professional fields: train driver, train controller, rolling stock technician or systems technician.
H.E. Dr. Abdul Rahman Jassim Hammadi said: “ADVETI is looking to utilize the expertise and learning techniques of DB, one of the leading railway operators in the world, via their training academy. Today, we are cementing our promise by actively engaging our strategic partners to understand how we can collaborate together, with the ultimate aim of launching a rail diploma for UAE Nationals.”
